6.1)  How do I start a Screen Sharing Session?

You can start a screen sharing session in from:

  • A Meeting Room, Screen Sharing tab or My Contacts Tab on the InnerPass application
  • A shortcut on your desktop (once InnerMeeting is downloaded)
  • Our website: www.InnerPass.com
  • The website:  www.myguestpage.com.
  • Skype Extras
  • Facebook

Step 1: Choose one of the 3 places on InnerPass to start screen sharing:

    A.  From the Screen Sharing Tab (this way is rather quick and easy)

              1.  Select the member(s) of a contact group

              2.   Click 'Begin Sharing'

              3.  type in a message or use the default message which is 'please join my meeting'.

              4.  Select 'Start'.  Continue with Step 2.

    B.  From a Meeting Room (this  option makes sense only if you have set up a meeting room.)

              1.  Select the Room Participants.

              2.  Click the screen sharing icon

              3.  Type in a message or use the default message which is 'please join my meeting'.

              4.  Select 'Start'.  Continue with Step 2.

    C.  From My Contacts tab

              1.  Select the member(s) of a contact group.

              2.  Click the screen sharing icon.

              3.  Type in a message or use the default message which is 'please joing my meeting'.

              4.  Select 'Start'.  Continue with Step 2.

Step 2:  After selecting 'Start' two things happen.

1.  On your computer, the screen sharing control window appears.

 2.  Your guest(s) will receive an email containing a link and the message you sent; they also receive this in their Skype chat window.  They click thte link and follow the simple instructions to join the meeting.

The InnerMeeting Control Window.

6.2)  How do I start a screen sharing session using an access code?

You can start a screen sharing session using an Access Code.  You might want to use this alternative if for some reason you don't want an email sent to the guests, or perhaps you are already on a call and want to start sharing by just telling everyone the number.  In any case, follow these steps.

Step 1:  From the Screen Sharing tab, do not select participants and simply select Begin Sharing.

Step 2:  Select 'Continue.'

Step 3:  On your computer, the screen sharing control window appears which allows you to play, pause or stop your screen sharing session.  You simply press play.

Step 4:  When the 5-digit Access Code appears, you must give that to your guests.  Your guests go to www.myguestpage.com.  They click 'Attend a meeting'. and then click private presentation.  Your guests are taken to a screen where they enter their name and access code, and select 'connect' button.  They can now see your screen.  When you, the host, are done, simply press the stop button on the screen share control window.

6.3)  How does someone start a screen sharing session if they don’t have InnerPass?

Anyone can start a screen sharing session by going to www.MyGuestPage.com, which is a light version of InnerPass.  It's important to note here that since MyGuestPage is not connectd to Skype, we've provided a bridge number that you and your guest can call if you need to conference.

Step 1:  Select the Meeting room from which you want to launch a screen sharing session.  if you do not select one, InnerPass will default to the most recently accessed room.

Step 2:  Select 'Host a Meeting.'

Step 3:  Enter the email addresses for the people you want to share a screen with.  The participants of the meeting room are also listed and you can invite all of them to the meeting by checking off the box.  Select 'Start.'

Step 4:  Two things happen:

1.  On your computer, the screen sharing control window appears.

2.  Your guest(s) will receive an e-mail containing a link and the message you sent.  They click the link and follow the easy steps to joing the meeting.

6.4)  The problem of the black screen in the screen share window can arise on Windows XP when sharing application window(s).  The Mac and Windows Vista/7 do not have this problem.

The reason this can happen is that on Windows XP the picture of the shared window is only sent while this window is active.  So let’s say the host starts sharing a window like an Excel spreadsheet for instance, and then the host clicks some other window not being shared and does something there like check an email.  The guests connect to this session but they see a black rectangle because the shared widow (Excel spreadsheet) is not active.

The remedy is for the host to make she shared window active by clicking somewhere in that window. That should start sending the host’s window picture to the guests again.   Another remedy is for the host to click ‘full screen’ to share everything running on the desktop.

This issue is rare because when the host shares a window, he usually stays within that window.
